If you're in the market for buying some wine to take home we can introduce you to some excellent domaines within striking distance of Le Couvent. Just let us know that's what you'd like to do when you make your booking.  Please be aware that the vendange (the wine harvest) happens in late August / early September.  The vineyards are at full stretch and it may not be the best time to rock up announced for a wine-tasting.

Here are some of our favourites

Domaine Bourdic Run by Hans Hurlimann and Christa Vogel this domaine is just up the road, it's their wine you'll find in your room here.  Formerly musicians in Switzerland their vineyard is lyrical, their reds complex and rich, and their rose simply yummy.  2008 will see their first white wines.

La Croix Belle   Jacques and Francoise Boyer's vineyard in Puissalicon which has been in the family for 3 centuries.  The No 7 blends and the Cascaillou are stonkingly good wines which grace some very smart wine lists eg. Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.

Domaine Ollier Taillefer   0467 90 24 59 A family vineyard for 5 generations which makes delicious reds, a terrific Vermentino (white) and higly respected roses.

Baronnie de Bourgade  0467 39 02 34 Owned by Gilles and Ruth de Latude the vineyard is built on an ancient Roman pottery site.  Intense wines under the 3 Poules label.
